The Department of Chemistry offers courses and programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, a minor in Chemistry, a Master of Science in Industrial Chemistry, Master of Science in Forensic Science, and a PhD in Chemistry. The department also participates in thePhD in Biomolecular Science. The undergraduate degree program in chemistry is accredited by the American Chemical Society Committee on Professional Training. It prepares the graduate for career opportunities in the chemical or related industries, or in government laboratories. The program also prepares students for further study at the graduate level in chemistry or in a related area such as materials science, pharmacology, or toxicology. With an appropriate choice of electives it also constitutes excellent preparation for the professional schools of dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, and veterinary medicine.
