The minor in emergency management and homeland security provides students with an opportunity to comprehensively study the disaster management cycle, including emergency planning, mitigation, response and recovery. In an age of dense population, increased terrorism, unpredictable weather and high public expectations of risk reduction and public leadership, this is an exciting area of study.

Students who complete a minor in emergency management and homeland security gain additional insight and knowledge that will help them find positions in various federal, state and local government or nonprofit organizations. Some of these may include the Environmental Protection Agency, Occupational Health and Safety Administration, the Orange County Emergency Management Division, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Homeland Security and state and local Homeland Security agencies.
