Recreation and Wellness Center
The Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC), an integral and active service of the diverse university community, supports and strengthens the mission of the University of Central Florida. Our mission is to foster healthy lifestyle choices and wellness through efficient services, comprehensive programs and highquality facilities. The Recreation and Wellness Center is designed to enrich campus life and advance the university’s educational mission. Benefits of participation include the application of leadership, decisionmaking, problem solving, conflict management, communication and social skills. We strive to provide the safest, cleanest, highest quality, most dependable and enjoyable services. RWC is comprised of five different programs: Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Outdoor Adventure, Fitness, and Aquatics. The Recreation and Wellness Center is open to all students with a valid UCF ID. Memberships are available for nonstudents.
The Recreation and Wellness Center staff also operates the Lake Claire recreation area, located just north of Greek Row. Lake Claire offers picnic facilities and watercraft usage. The facilities can be reserved for group activities by filling out the reservation request form online at the RWC Web site.
RWC Indoor Facilities:
- Four indoor multipurpose courts
- 1/8 mile indoor track
- 12,000 sq. ft. weight floor
- 3,000 sq. ft. Cardio floor
- 41 ft. Climbing Tower
- Group exercise studio
- Spinning studio
RWC Outdoor Facilities:
- 230,000 gallon 6 lane outdoor pool
- 181,000 gallon Leisure pool ranging from zero to five ft. deep
- Eight sand volleyball courts
- Three basketball courts
- Seven tennis courts
RWC Park:
- Three lighted artificial turf fields
- Softball/baseball field
- Nine acre multipurpose field
Challenge Course:
- High Elements; 10 total; on two levels between 2545 ft.
- Low Elements; 11 total
Intramural Sports
The Intramural Sports program offers the opportunity to participate in more than fifty action-filled team, dual, and individual sports, including perennial favorites flag football, basketball, soccer, and floor hockey. Several competition divisions are offered to accommodate various skill levels.
A unique aspect of the UCF program is referee development, in which students can be trained to officiate sports, earn money on campus, and have an opportunity to work in the Orlando community.
